I developed this style of portraiture in 1994. Shortly afterward, my technique was published in several third party books on Adobe Illustrator. Since then, the vector portrait style has been picked up by hundreds of digital illustrators all over the world.
I’ll grant that it is certainly debatable whether or not I am the creator of the style, however I was the first to share the technique in industry publications back in 1994.
These illustrations in particular were done for the Dickinson Wright legal firm in Detroit.
I was contracted to create vector illustrations of 16 of their lawyers. These illustrations were used for several internal projects and in print advertising - most notably in Crain's Detroit.
Detroit area haunted houses and Halloween attractions are legendary, and The Haunt Guide crammed them in one book!
Over the years, I have produced ads for various haunts and events and even had the pleasure of compiling the Haunt Guide itself in 2022 and 2023 (including the cover art).
Unfortunately, 2023 was the final year that the Haunt Guide was produced.
Here are a few pieces to chill your blood and make your hair stand on end!
Part renderings, vehicle cutaways, exploded views and technical drawings for several clients.

All pieces created with Adobe Illustrator.
My first post-Covid art show was “The Poster Show” which opened November 19, 2021 at The Dovetail in Warren. This is a co-headling event with Steve Gamburd.
This show was dedicated to the poster and promotional art that Steve and I have created for the various events, concerts, and films over the past 10 years.
Between Gamburd and I there were over 100 pieces on display.

I created several pieces that were revealed at the event. 43 pieces were displayed, and 17 had never been shown in a gallery setting before. All art created with Adobe Illustrator.
The focus of the art was on my pin up girls and female-inspired pieces. Also on display were a series of pieces from my work on Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In.
Promotion for this event included print materials (flyers, postcards and posters), social media and viral marketing. The event included music performances and an outdoor theater with cheesy horror films.
This was my fourth solo art show and was on display from August 25th 2017 thru October 10th 2017.

Clemens, The Howell Theater in Howell, Scribblz Art in Shelby Township, London Calling in Roseville, The Paint Creek Center for The Arts in Rochester, and The Red Room at the Main Art Theater in Royal Oak.

Annual collection of booklets for Siemens VDO.
Booklets ranged from 16 to 24 pages. Depending on the year, there were between four and eight booklets produced.
I handled print production and prepress for these projects.
Created with QuarkXPress, Adobe inDesign and Illustrator.
This 4-page sale flyer was created for Hillside Furniture for their 2017 Presidents' Day Weekend Sale event.
I was tasked with creating a flyer that mimicked the print designs that were used by Hillside's parent company, Art Van. However I was to avoid making it look "too much" like an Art Van designed piece and maintain the higher end look of the Hillside brands.
This piece was delivered via the Homestyle section of the Detroit News. Other pieces to support this flyer were print ads, direct mail (postcards), internet banner ads and email blasts.
I handled the layout and design, illustration, retouching and photography (as needed) for all projects in the campaign. I also coordinated production with the Detroit News, C&G Newspapers, and others.
This project is only one of literally thousands of pieces that I did for Hillside Furniture during my 15 years with the company. If you’d like to see more of my retail advertising work, please contact me.
From time to time, I'm contracted to do a vector illustration of the Detroit Zoo map. I have been doing this for over 20 years.
I turn over the files to Detroit Zoo's creative team and they simply modify it from year to year. The map that is still in use today is built from my original illustrations.
In addition to the map, I did vector illustrations of the animals for the map.
Created entirely in Adobe Illustrator.
I designed the logo, labels, and accessories for the Pit Bull Hot Sauce line of sauces, dry rubs, marinades, and accessories.
Pit Bull Hot Sauce won six Scovie Awards during it's years of production. Including “Best Company or Product Logo".
I also handled product photography, and designed and maintained the Pit Bull Hot Sauce web site.
In 2012 and 2015, I produced dinosaur vector illustrations for use in the Detroit Zoo's Dinosauria attraction.
All illustrations were created with Adobe Illustrator. They were used in signage and in print materials.
Everyone needs a logo at some point or another and I’ve designed my fair share.
Here are just a few of the hundreds I’ve designed.
The Italia Collection look book was created for Hillside Furniture in March of 2017. This is a 24-page booklet that focuses on the bedroom and dining room furniture sets.
I handled all design, layout, retouching as needed and pre-press. Printing was done out-of-state.
This booklet was intended to be a “souvenir” for prospective clients.

My work isn’t limited to my own characters.
Here are some examples of commission projects, celebrity vector portraits, and art that was done just for the fun of it.
Obscure or mainstream. Western or eastern. Old school or the latest thing. Marvel or DC. Movies, TV, or even video games. If you have a favorite character and would like a special take on it (or a very accurate representation), drop me a line. Rates for these projects are very reasonable.
